shadowtrash tape group was an audio-art cassette label situated in the western United States. The label was formed in the Denver/Boulder Colorado area in 2013. As of 2020 the project transformed into what is now Harmonic Ooze Records.

Operated by a small group of interdisciplinary artists, the label functioned as a container for shifting monikers and ongoing sonic collaborations between them and artists regionally to internationally.

 

This work was produced and trafficked through various networks of individuals and venues, as a method of sharing content outside of the algorithmically surveilled structures of web-based social networking, music streaming sites, government and licensing agencies, the recording industry, and the overlap of these devices.

Seeking subterranean compositions born from inventive spaces or the hijaking of known forms for new consciousness--shadowtrash feeds on the waste of audio society. Collected experiments are our alchemical shit, tapes are our encryption tools. While quite various in approach, our archive crystalizes adventures in sonic frontiers and D.I.Y. recording.
